I'm with you on the Tide Pen! I can't tell you how many spots my white shirts have on them from stray soy sauce or soup slurp mess!

I'm also looking into the SteriPEN for the next part of our trip. There's the cost issue with always buying water, but I'm also feeling like I've left a pretty big footprint in Asia with all the plastic water bottles I had to discard.

I feel you on the watch thing. Last year I spent 3 weeks in Asia. No cell, no watch. I finally caved in while in Hong Kong. I went to an outdoor market and bought a cute watch keychain and attached it to my bag. It was great because I'm not used to wearing watches, so I didn't have to think about it and I didn't have to fumble around in my bag to find my watch it was just attached to the zipper!

The added feature was that since, for some reason, I always had to hold my keychain watch when I walked around I had added security! No one would have been able to unzip my bag without me knowing it!

I think you're losing your touch when it comes to guilt tripping. You're not that believable.

I have a pretty good sense that you don't want to lug around a backpack for two months with two kids nor do you have any interest in the mini-bar.

Nice try though.
