Blogging in Real Time — 10 Things I Will Miss About Asia
We’re blogging out of order lately—writing about Thailand when we’re in Singapore, for example. So what you might not know is that at this very moment our trip is about to end. Don’t worry, we’ll still share our pictures and videos of everything we’ve seen in Asia, but for now I thought I would blog about what I’m thinking RIGHT NOW.
Here is what I’ll miss from Asia.
1. I hate to say it, but the television selections. BBC World News and the Discovery Channel were in just about every place we stayed. It really is world news!
b. $3 meals. Do I really need more than a little chicken curry and rice for dinner?
3. Being able to open up a map on the corner of Who Knows Where I Am Street and This Road Looks Just Like the Other Avenue, and not worrying about the fact that I look like a tourist. The reality is that I look like a tourist no matter what I do, so why not embrace it.
4. The elephants.
5. Seeing the groups of Chinese tourists who so willingly follow their tour guides holding flags.

6 – Watching Jason get frustrated when those same Chinese tourists cut in front of him in line and crowd in so close to him that they are touching him.
7. Being able to tell someone we won’t pay the price they are asking us to pay, but we will pay another price and having them actually agree.
8. Chicken curry.
9. The airlines that provide free meals and movies regardless of the time of day or length of travel.
10. The mini bar.

You have mini bars where you stay? POSH! but the food is great in asia and i agree with #9. 45 minute flight on Bangkok Air? Here have a meal…or two!!
Depends on the place, but yeah sometimes.
We found that on Turkish Airlines. The stewardess was almost fighting us to get the tray back while the pilot was on final approach down the runway.
While I’ve only been to Singapore so far, it whet my appetite for more Asian travel. The food, the people, the haggling on prices, it’s all wonderful.
We really enjoyed Singapore. A clean safe city with a nice mix of cultures and people.
