A few of the sights in Bangkok…

One evening while walking to the metro station we noticed (how could we not) an elephant on the street corner. This was a super busy road in Bangkok and the elephant had his rear foot right up to the edge of the sidewalk. Of course, if you paid some Baht you could feed it. We didn’t feed the elephant, we just took pictures of it.

While sitting in a coffee shop we watched a very peaceful protest go by. I went to school in Boulder so I’ve a seen a protest or two in my day, but this was larger than any I’d seen before. There’s been some talk in the news about Thailand’s interesting political scene, but other than this protest we’ve noticed nothing out of the ordinary or that political.

The guide books don’t lie. Sex tourism in Thailand is rampant. Sorry, no pictures of these lovely ladies, but this is the red light district in Bangkok. Vegas doesn’t have anything on this place.

Did you guys stay in the Sumka Vit area in Bangkok? From the pictures it looks like it. Did you go by Pat Pong? If you know what Pat Pong is, then you did. If not, then you are better off for it. At least Sara is…..

Good job on exploring the underbelly of the city. If you ever get into trouble in Thailand just remember, the people are tiny and easy to shove out of the way. 20% of the men are gay, 20% of the women are actually men, 50% of everyone there swings both ways, and 90% of the tourists are European males there to dabble in the sex trade. That should calm all fears

Jason, you should buy a custom suit before you leave Thailand. You can get $1,500 suit for $300. Let me know if you are interested and I can point you in the right direction.

We did stay just off of Sukhumvit, which worked out great. We looked into tailor made suits but every time we did we were hot and tired and just not that motivated.

Then we remembered we didn’t have office jobs and if we’re lucky won’t need to wear a suit to more than just the occasional wedding or funeral:)

I envy your non-office job lifestyle. That is all.

Jake – I decided that I wouldn’t buy a suit. I also decided that I when I die I want to be cremated and used as filler in those recycled padded envelopes with lint and stuff in them. I want to be useful to the world, even in death.
