Exploring Palm Beach Aruba

2008 August 8

August 4th, 2008. The flight to Aruba was easy. I sat next to a nervous flyer – she tensed up every time we hit turbulence – but once the seat back TVs started working, everything was OK. Movies were free, so while reading I watched “Run Fatboy Run” (hilarious) and some Ashton Kucher Cameron Diaz comedy (meh).

Once we hit the ground, Alex (who worked for the property management company we rented the condo from) drove us to our unit at the King David Suites. Very nice guy, gave us a short tour, answered some questions, and told us a little bit about his native Beunos Aires.

Our “King David Suites” condo rental for the next 3 weeks.

When we walked in the door at the condo, the strong smell of mildew hit our nostrils. It reminded me of my towel from highschool swim class – the one I didn’t take home to wash for weeks at a time, yet used everyday. No wonder girls didn’t like me – I smelled like mildew. Good times…

Aside from the mildew smell, everything is clean and looks great.

Palm beach Aruba is fun. Lots of things to do and see. We walked up and down the shore, stopping at a bar on a pier for an appetizer, then to Moomba for dinner. We ate right on the beach, and highlight of the evening (aside from the great meal), was this:

We’re enjoying a quite, private dinner on the moonlit beach. The nearest table is 20 feet away, and their conversation is a quite murmur. Sara and I are talking about the next three weeks, how happy we are to be in Aruba, etc. When ALL OF THE SUDDEN, some guy walks right by and says (and I quote):

“Wow! What a great table right on the beach where you can have a nice private dinner!”

Seriously. The guy says this as he’s tromping by not 5 feet from our table. Interrupts and everything. Hilarious!

I’m not sure if he did it on purpose or not, but it was funny.
