Five Things China Does Right
China does a lot of things right, but there have been a few small things that I really like. I like them so much that I’d like to propose the US of A pick up some of these habits too. Who’s with me? We could really start something here.
-
At WalMart they don’t give you bags. You can ask for one, but you have to pay for it. I learned today on CNN that the government actually made this a law last summer because the Chinese were using something like 3 billion bags a day.
-
They give you little spoons to stir the cream and sugar in your coffee. It’s the perfect size to fit on the saucer when you are done. I’m sure this is European, but I like it regardless.
-
At a lot of the street lights they have a timer that counts backward during a red light. This way you know how much longer you have to wait.
-
In some areas of the world you walk into a restaurant and they just stare at you wondering what you’re doing there. After a minute or so you just seat yourself and hope that no one minds. That’s not the case in China. In restaurants they greet you right away. There’s no waiting or wondering where to go or what to do.
-
95% of the public bathrooms have attendants and they don’t expect a tip.
Gooooooo China!
